Cathedral Square
The main center point of Christchurch is the Cathedral Square. The main landmark of of the square is of course the Christchurch Cathedral. There are also many activities going on the this square like a bazaar, mega chess, pick up for tours, etc.....

Walk around Christchruch City
After visiting the Arts Centre, we continue to take a walk.

The Arts Centre
The Art Centre was located opposite the street from where we stayed (YMCA). The Arts Centre has many stone Gothic Revival buildings and used to be University of Canterbury.
As an Arts Centre currently, it showcased many artwork and crafts. There are many shops, restaurants, cinema and theatre and events like workshops and weekend market.
Although I do not appreciate arts, I like the environment of the Art Centre. It was very peaceful.

Bridge of Remembrance
We came back Christchurch City again after returning from the Gondola. We came across the Bridge of Remembrance on the way back to our accommodation.
This monument was location on Cashel Street Bridge and is used to remember the Army personnel who went during 1914 to 1918 .

Christchurch Gondola
We went to the Gondola after we checked in our last accomodation YMCA.
Took a public bus number 28 from Colombo Street bus exchange. As this is the first time that we had taken a public bus, we were extremely and obviously lost. Although we know that this bus will reach our destination, the bus leaflet on the bus did not show where were the bus stops that this bus stops along the way. We kept comparing our map with the bus route to make sure that we won't miss the stop. We had been looking obviously lost that a kind old lady offered her help and told us that this bus will definitely stop at the Gondola. So embarrassing!
The 945m Gondola lift from the base station located in the Heathcote Valley to the top of the port hills which is almost 500m above sea level. From the top, it provides a stunning views of Christchurch city, Southern Alps, Canterbury Plains, Lyttleton Harbour, Pegasus Bay and Pacific Ocean.

From Queenstown to Christchurch
Its another whole day of travelling. This time, we left Queenstown for Christchurch.
Boarded the Newmans coach, this time we past towns and places like Cromwell, Omarama, Twizel, Lake Pukaki, Lake Tekapo, Mackenzie Country, Canterbury Plains, Geraldine, Ashbuton....
The road becomes less mountainous as we travel. Along this route, the beautiful southern alps and Lakes can be seen. There were many farmland along the way.
The bus stopped by Lake Tekapo for lunch. We had fish and wedges for lunch.

The Southern Alps
These are Lake Pukaki which is after Twizel, is a beautiful blue lake. This is due to the glacier rock particles held in suspension in the lake, giving it such a solid colour.
Around Lake Pukaki, sights of Mount Cook, the highest mountain in NZ can be spotted.
The bus stopped by Lake Tekapo for lunch. We had fish and wedges for lunch.

Quad Bike Adventure
Its Valentines Day. We did something tough and rough! Something that William likes... Especially stuff with wheels and if its 4WD with rough terrain, its even better!
We signed the Quad bike tour organised by Nomad Safari. We had the chance to ride 400cc Honda all terrain vehicle (ATV). Owing to its power and ability to move on uneven ground, this kind bike is commonly used in farm for the farms to move and transporting things withs the farm. The bikes that we rode on was automatic.
We were provided with jacket,cover pants, gloves, boots, sunglasses and helmets. These were mainly to protect us from the dust and glaring sun.
We were taught how to ride the bike (which was pretty easy) and went through some training before moving around the Queenstown Hill. Rode to the top of Queenstown Hill and we could the the beautiful The Remarkables and Queenstown.
