1 year ROM anniversary

By Edna:

I wanted to post this on the Monday, but pc was not available to me.

26 November 2006: The day my hubby and myself tied a knot officially at Maysprings condominum clubshouse. The old and wise Mr Chan Kai Yau was our solemniser for the day. Until today, I'm very grateful to our friends and family who had helped in the preparation as well as attended our solemnisation.

Most importantly, I want to thank my hubby for many many many (infinity) things which he had done for me, like comforting me, keeping me happy and spending time with me. We do have disagreements at times too, I hope that this will make us understand each other even more.

On this 1 year anniversary, we stayed over at our new home and do some simple cooking. I cherish the time, being together and doing activities together.

Decision on AD photographer and videographer

By Edna:

We met up with Celestine from Fotowerke to take a look at their photos and videos. Both of us feel their works are ok and I feel that Celestine is professional and sincere.

They are currently having a promotion, giving us a good rate for their basic package. I want to have the express highlights too and we will have to top up to it.

As the express highlights will require the videographer to leave the last location at around 1.30pm, my worry for me is it might be too rush for him. This is because the travelling between his mother's, my parents' and our home are quite far apart and will take up quite a lot of travelling time. I had discussed with Celestine and he could compromise to leave a little later.

Not really wanting to scout for other photographer and videographers, we had decided to engage their photography and videography services for our wedding day.

Photographer and videographer hunting

I think its time to source for photographers and videographers. Had ask for some quotations for a few. Most of them quoted above more than $1k. I feel that its quite ex.

Came across one of them in SG brides having promotion at a very attractive rate. I had just arranged an appointment with Fotowerke to see their works.

Looking forward to meet them.

Wedding banquet venue hunting

By Edna:

Although, Master Tong had shortlisted a few dates for us, only 2 dates (22 Nov 08 & 28 Dec 08) were more suitable to us. Many of us would prefer the former because it is on a Saturday and all of us can get a rest next day.

I tried our luck on the 1st date. I had dream venue in mind which was Noble House but they were already booked on both days. My husband and myself decided to get the wedding venues around Havelock, Outram, Singapore River area. We shortlisted and arranged to view 3 venues which were Orient Ocean restaurant, River View hotel and Furama Riverfront hotel.

Personal reviews:

Orient Ocean Restaurant ~ It has a typical Chinese restaurant setup and is able to accommodate more than 50 tables with 6 pillars. The cost of each table booked, is quite affordable. A lot of parking space available.
We did not choose it because we did not like the Chinese restaurant setup.

Riverview hotel ~ First thing, I must comment that the coordinator, Ms Lee Kim Peng whom we met is very friendly, sincere, accommodating and helpful. I like the suite bathroom in particular. As for the ballroom, it is small, old and can accommodate up to 35 tables. There are 2 pillars in the ballroom. The price of a table for a hotel is considered to be very affordable. There are very few parking space available
We did not choose it because of the ballroom capacity. We had planned for approximately 30 tables and worried that the number of tables would increase as time goes by. Maximum capacity would be very cramp.

Furama Riverfront hotel ~ It has 3 ballrooms: Jupiter, Mercury and Venus. The venus ballroom is very spacious and is able to accommodated more that 50 tables. The ceiling is considered to be quite high and this ballroom is pillarless! It has a big foyer outside the ballroom for cocktail reception. It’s pricing and package is very competitive and attractive. There is ample parking space during weekends. Therefore, we decided to sign up with our coordinator, Albert Liew to book the Venus ballroom.

I felt a little uneasy when we paid the deposit because the price was much higher than the other 2 venues and started to worried about our budget. In the end, I thought of it more positively, this is the best venue and we like it here best. I’m looking forward to it and going to make my dream wedding come true here on 22 Nov 2008!

Wedding date selection

By Edna:

As we had planned to get married next year, we wanted to get a good day too. We had shortlisted the last quarter of the year 2008 for our big day.

I visited to Singapore Brides forum to find out more about the fortune teller or fengshui masters which they consulted. I shortlisted a few and contacted them to find out more from them.

In the end, we consulted Master David Tong from Chinese Metaphysics Consulting to select our wedding date. He is very friendly and helpful. He also explained his analysis to us in detail and gave us tips on what to do for our wedding. His replies to us very quickly, met our budget and we can meet him at our convenience. After selecting a few dates, we were in a better direction on what to do next.

Special banquet ideas

Eversince our wedding preparations started, I have been thinking how can I be less common from others in a wedding banquet which is usually seems to have a 'standard operating procedure' (SOP).

Last week, I attended my friend Lijun's banquet and I found that hers is very different and enjoyable. Her husband is a band member himself and they performed during the dinner. I think this is a nice idea. My brother is a band member of Freedom band group and I have this idea of asking his band to perform for me. However, my bro rejected me, gave me the reason that they were not good enough. Well, they have more than a year to prepare. I will try to persuade him again.

My banquet venue has a piano, my hubby and myself tried asking his sister to play but she rejected us too.

Sometimes, I would imagine and brainstorm what are the possible ways to make our banquet unique. Dance in, march in differently (couple separate march in, march in with father), sing a song?

I think I would have to think very hard and hopefully my hubby can come out of something too!

Furama Riverfront's "Happily ever after" wedding show

By Edna:

We went to our wedding banquet venue, Furama Riverfront wedding show this afternoon. We had already booked their Venus ballroom . Just went there for lucky draw and to explore other wedding services.

It featured its 3 ballrooms: Jupiter, Mercury and Venus, deco and setup plus a bridal gown show by La Belle Couture. There were also booths which offered other wedding services like photography, fengshui and favour etc..... Saw Albert, our coordinator, but we did not walk over to talk to him. He was very busy.

We had our high tea buffet and went to explored Mercury Room as we wait for the lucky draw time. Well, we did not win anything in the end.

The Proposal

By Edna:

On the night of 18 May 06, I was preparing for my next trip to Krabi when I received a call from my "then" boyfriend, William. He asked me to go down to the carpark to get from him something that his friend asked me to buy in Krabi.

I was not really willing to go down because I'm wearing pyjamas and I even asked him to come up to pass the item to me. He insisted that I must come down because the carpark auntie was around and he did not intend stay for long.

I went down in my pyjamas in the end. I felt a little funny that he did not park at his usual carpark lot area. When I reached his car, he walked over with a cake with candle (In my mind, I was thinking "What's the occasion?") and asked me this proposal question.
This cake was a chocolate Sara Lee cake with M&M candies arrange with a cross. If I was to say yes, I have to take out some M&Ms and make it into a tick.

It was a pleasant surprise for me, even though we had plans to get married. We had gone to choose the diamond ring I like together, but I insisted a proposal and will only accept his ring when he propose to me.

What William had done was a pleasant surprise for me. I blew the candle in the end. Suddenly, we hear someone whistling and clapping from my block, I did not know who. A bit embarrassed....

My bridal studio ~ Yvonne Creative

By Edna:

Our wedding preparations started since May 2006. It was when we 1st started to look around for bridal studios. I was very excited then, I'm going be a bride! The 1st bridal studio which we walk into is Yvonne Creative and it was the only bridal studio which we hunt. They gave me a chance to try out their gowns. They are very beautiful and I like the designs very much!

We further discussed our package and decided to signed up with them even though I don't when I will be getting married. They told us that they can keep the date open and let them know once we confirmed the date.

I had since utilised their services for my ROM in Nov 2006. I had Feng Jie, a coordinator working in YC to help me to arrange my gown, accessories and bouquet. I also tried out their makeup artist, May make up. They both very good but Feng Jie has since left.

There is another coodinator, Yan Ping who called me up and informed me that she will be coordinator. I had also informed her about my wedding date too. Hope that she will be as good as Feng Jie.

I am satisfied with their services so far.
