End of our Furama Riverfront stay

It was our last day at Furama Riverfront which also meant that our mini honeymoon had come to the end. I looked out from our suite window and had taken the last look of the view. Apart from our wedding day, it had been a relaxing time for us. We enjoyed our stay.

In overall, we had not not regretted choosing Furama Riverfront as our wedding banquet venue. We felt very welcomed and our banquet manager Jason was very detail and professional. Thing went quite smoothly that day. We also received some feedback from our guest. Food was fantastic. However the serving and topping up of drinks was infreguent.

Also special thanks to our coordinator Albert Liew who had made the neccesary arrangements to make our wedding dinner happen smoothly.

The day after our big day

We slept till 11am today. We will only be checking out tomorrow because we had converted our anniversary stay to our 2nd night stay. Therefore there is no rush to pack our belongings.

After washing up and initial counting of our ang pows, we went to the the Square to have our buffet lunch. So glad that they have salmon sashimi! my fav!

I went to had my complimentary head and shoulder massage at the hotel's SPA after that, then went back to our suite to count Ang Pows. We took really long (about rest of the afternoon) to count how much we received. All the ang pow will be settled as our banquet bill.

In the evening, we returned our gown and suit, deposited some money and had dinner. Although its was a full busy day, its very relaxing for us.

1 day before our wedding: Relatives, manicure, pedicure and wrist corsages

Its the last day before my actual day wedding! My uncle's family from Malaysia had arrived and they will be staying over at our home. Appreciated that they came all the way from Ipoh to attend my wedding.

My mom and I went for mani and pedi at Fingerworks and then went over to my Floral School to collect some flowers for making wrist corsages for my Jie Meis and our mothers.

This is how my Jie Meis' corsages look like. All done by me!

2 days before our weddng - An Chuan and collection of gown

Its time to do An Chuan, a chinese wedding tradtion at which a bridal bed is set up. We did a simple an chuan by ourselves. Putting new bedsheets, shifting bed to position, putting yuan into the wardrobe, placing an chuan stuff like peanuts, red dates, lotus seeds, 2 oranges 2 money bags consisting $9.90 and $8.80 worth of coins.

This symbolises the good health, fortune and the off-springs for the wedding couple.

Me trying to put the quilt cover in place.

After we completed our An Chuan, we proceeded our bridal studio Yvonne Creative to collect our gowns.

3 days before my wedding: Meeting up at Furama Riverfront

The main programme for the day is to meet up with our coordinator, Albert Liew for our wedding banquet at Furama Riverfront to finalise our contract and to test our media to be played during our wedding banquet.

Albert went through the contract with us with many many details which made us feel at ease that many things had been arranged. Our wedding coordinator who is William's friend Daming came too and we went through with the AV specialist to test our photo montage and music.

In 3 days time, it will be the actual thing! Hope that every thing would go well!

4 days before my wedding, a super packed day and a surprise mini hen's party

It was a super busy day for me today.

  • Dental appointment,

  • trip to hair salon to get my hair trimmed and treatment done,

  • collect my photo montage at academy video

  • do some shopping for my wedding related stuff

  • meeting up with my jie meis for a final briefing

For the JieMeis meet up was not just a Jie Mei's meeting up but also my mini Hen's Party @ Esplanade for me.

It was a surprise for me and I did not expect this. We had dinner at Thai express instead of food court. Wanted to arrange dinner at food court at 1st because I knew one of my Jie Mei's was recovering from stomach flu and there would have more choices for her. Luckily there is suitable food for her at Thai Express.

So my hen's party started at Thai express looking like this.

This is my Jie Mei who had put on all these for me and I was supposed to wear it throughout my Hen's Party. There a were a few challenges which I had to complete. One was which was truth or dare. They asked me a few questions which I had to answer, making annoucement at the crowd, collecting kisses from the public, doing sexy poses in front of public and telling a secret to a waiter. I think i would never dare to do all these tasks all my life and I had done them tonight!

See my achivements!

Although I was a bit horrified at 1st by what I'm supposed to do, I had super lots of fun and these will leave a great memory with me. My appreciation goes all out to my dear Jie Meis: Karin, Lena, Xiao Yun and Pei Ru. Thank you for your efforts for making this Mini Hen's night possible!

Chicks Party @ Goldkist Resorts

Like one of my colleagues had quoted, this was prelude to the event of the year! Together with Yumin and Meifang who the the main organizers, my other fantastic colleagues and attachment students: Caroline, Jocelyn, Angela, Suellen and Samantha had prepared (since last month) this Chicks party (bachelorette party) specially for me.

1st of all, let me introduce our party logo designed by our logo designer, Yumin! (Cute rite?)

The party was held at Goldkist Chalets at East Coast Park. The girls checked in and started the bbq 1st. I came after that and was had a very warm welcome from them with party poppers, balloons and being served with yummy bbq food (All thanks to the great chefs and the charcoal was cooperative too)! I was kept very busy by eating and photo taking (Samantha was or official photographer). I will upload more pics after Sam transfer me the pics.

After the bbq, we had reheasals for my 2 emcees Jocelyn and Caroline. Afterwhich, we went to beach together and this was the most touching, most romantic, most heartwarming, most meaningful and most risky part to me. We played the sparklers and each of them had sang a song to me. Although, I am not very familiar with the songs they had sung, they were very meaningful to me and their songs are their blessings for my marriage. I sang a song (Hold on together) for them too. They also sang Aaron Kwok's 对你爱不完 with edited lyrics and all time familiar actions! After singing was the sabo part, they quickly grab my limbs (it was not easy for them) and decided throw me off somewhere (I shall not mention where). All thanks to my saviour Meifang which they did not do it in the end. Meifang, if your are reading this, thanks to your rescue! Our beach event ended with a big hug from all of them.

Back at the chalet, we had a drinking game of Vodka. Its was very fun and crazy! All of us enjoyed it but most of us were quite drunk after 2 rounds of the game.

Last of all, take a look at this T shirt! It was specially designed by Samantha. Beautiful right? I loved it very much!

On the back of this Tshirt was their individual wishes. It was very sweet of them.

I know that a lot of effort was made this Chicks Party super duper enjoyable, fun and meaningful. Here again I would like to thank all of you ( To: Meifang, Yumin, Jocelyn, Caroline, Angela, Suellen and Samantha) for all your presence and involvement in this party. You all had made me feel like a Queen! Your great blessings, friendship and support was felt there to me. I really appreciate it and I will cherish this party in my memory even after my wedding.

Our 过大礼 Guo Da Li on 1 November 2008

Its our Guo Da Li this morning. William, his sister Tiffany and his Aunt Kelly came over to our home with bethrothal gifts.

Guo da li is an one of the main wedding event whereby both families of groom and bride acknowledge and give blessing to this marriage.

William's family also prepared a bouquet of flowers for me which was pleasant surprise for me. Thank you so much! I love the flowers!

These are the wedding cakes which William's family had given us. They were distributed to my relatives after Guo Da Li in the afternoon.

These are the betrothal gifts that William's family had brought.

The bride's family will accept the gifts and return a pair of dragon and phoenix candles, part of the bride price, oranges, 2 bottles of orange juice and 1 fa cake to the groom's family. In addition, we also presented my dowry to the groom's family.

Betrothal and dowry items for Guo Da Li

Together with my mom-in-law, hubby, sis-in-law and her boyfriend, we went to Chinatown to procure our things need for Guo Da Li. My MIL had went racky around the shops selling bridal stuff in Chinatown a few weeks before.

The dowry is one of the main category of stuff to buy for the bride's side. Dowry are the things which the bride's family give to bride for her new life at her new home. This is usually given together with the return gifts for the groom's family.

Apart from the dowry, the groom family need to buy dragon and phoenix candles and a basket to carry the betrothal things like 2 bottles of liqour, bride price, oranges, 4 types of gold (si dian jin). These things are needed to to be brought over to bride's home during betrothal. I did not manage to take photos of the things bought by the groom's family to show here.

We went to a bridal shop called K.K Marriage Goods located at Chinatown Complex. These are things which I had bought for my dowry.

Bathtub, towels (2 sets), mugs (replacing brushing teeth tumbler), ornament symbolising spitoon and basin.

2 sets of plates, bowls, chopsticks and spoon

Bedroom slippers for the groom

A pair of bedside lamp
Tea Set
All these things above will be passed to the groom's family. Other things like 2 bottles of orange juice will be returned to the groom too.

Below are the item which the bride will use during her wedding day.

Bedroon slippers

2 sets of fan
1 red umbrella

1st meet up with my Jie Meis

Time flies! Its a month to our big day!

Had met up with my Jie Meis this evening. My jie meis are Lena, Karin, Xiao Yun and Pei Ru. They are my good friends who I'm closer to and had kept in contact.

This is my 1st official gathering at Rocky Master at Marina Square. I chose this place because it is not crowded (in fact, empty).

We had a little warming up session to get to know each other and a some discussion on what to do on early morning that day. I also passed them a list about their roles for the daytime segment.

Its a fruitful meet up and I will most probably arrange another meetup to brief them the details of the wedding day.

Guo Da Li's cakes ordered

I ordered cakes on the behalf of William's family for our coming Guo Da Li (bethroal). They had empowered us to order cakes we like and will be using ang pow to represent cake.

I surfed through a few websites. Shortlisted KYO cake house, sweetest moments and Chocz confectionery. All three have delivery service. I decided on Sweetest moments in the end because of the price, personalised card and presentation of the food.

A pair of champagne glasses

Lena, who is my buddy aka my "pa" had recently came back from Germany after 9 months of training by her company. I met her up for shopping last weekend.

She passed me this lovely gift which she had bought online in Germany. This gift is for William and myself. I like it very much because the picture of the couple looks very cute. Thank you pa! I have not shown this to William yet. My pa hopes that we could use it during our wedding banquet. I hope that I can use them too! If cannot, we could use them during other special occasions like pator anniversary, rom anniversary, wedding anniversary, valentine's day and our birthdays!

As William and I are not don't drink alcoholic stuff much, most probably it will be sparkling grape juices and soft drinks!

Our food tasting

Its our food tasting session today! We had its as our lunch at the Square restauant in Furama Riverfront. Both sides of our family members participated in this session.

The food tasting session is just like sitting together and eating banquet food. The restaurant would provide the menu with a remarks section at the end of each dish which we had selected. We can put our feedback in the remarks section.

Overall is food is very good. We are satisfied with most of the dishes we had eaten. Only, some slight changes with the cold dish and feedback on noodles and dessert.

Wedding customs and wedding shop information

On and off, I would visit Sg brides forum to read my favourite thread regarding wedding related topics.

One of the thread was discussing about chinese customs stuff like guo da li and dowry. They were sharing where to get the stuff from.

I find this website which they shared useful, so I decided to put the link here.
http://www.worldoffortune.com/WOF/FY/index.php

There also this wedding shop which they recommend.

We have not do much for the guo da li, an chuan and dowry yet. This will definitely come useful if we need them.

It was our 1st visit to Focal Ad whom we engaged them to print our wedding cards inserts. We selected our insert and wording colour (ivory and matt gold respectively). Stephen who was the in-charge also guided us on the approriate contents to put inside the inserts. He would give us a draft in three days time and would be ready in 1 week after confirming the draft.

Just selected our photos!

Together with my sis and Xiao Yun, we went to select my photoshoot photos yesterday. As my hubby had something on, he did not come along but picked us up when we left.

I heard about many horror stories from friends and colleagues about bridal studios pushing and pressing couples to top up photos and even became hostile to couples if they did not top up. I was quite worried about this. My friends suggested to bring friends along to select photos because they would be more rational which photos looks good.

We took less than an hour to shortlist and selected the photos. We selected 30 photos and 1 of which was converted from 1 of my items in my wedding package. (I was entitled to 29 photos in my package) Although my coordinator did recommend me select top up to 45 photos to do those pretty magazine style layout kind of photo album, we felt that it was not neccessary. My coordinator did not push me further; she was busy with another client (no time to entertian me which was good for me). :)

Conclusion: If you want to do your photo selection, choose a day like a weekend which bridal studios are usually busy. The staff would not have to entertian you and you can choose your photos in peace. They would also won't have to persude you to top up photos. Do bring friends along, they can help you to decide on which photos are good.

Last of all, I want to thank Xiao Yun and my sis for giving me frank opinions and help me to select and decide on photos so quickly.

Its our photoshoot today!

Its an exciting day for us today! Our photoshoot day. Our make up artist is May and photographer is Chris. Here are some of photos taken before our each segment of our indoor photoshoot.

As for our outdoor photoshoot, we went to a few places like Ben & Jerrys @ Dempsy Hill, Hort Park Entrance, field at Wincester Road and Henderson Waves. It was a smooth and fun photoshooting time. We can even eat ice cream at Ben & Jerrys!
