White Water Rafting

In Queenstown, well known for its extreme activities like sky diving, bungee jumping, etc. How can we not participate?

We signed up for white water rafting which was organised by Challange Rafting and Queenstown rafting. There are 2 rivers to choose from Kawarau river and Shotover river. We were recommended to the latter since we had rafting experience in Thailand.

Their changing area is located the lower end of the river. This was were the deposited our belongings, changed into wet suits, booties and windbreaker pullover. We were also given life jackets, helmet and mitten.

After changing, we were brought to the top end of the river by a bus which it travelled past the Skipper's Canyon. The driver's skill is superb, especially when the road is just beside the cliff!

When reached the top, we were briefed about how to raft, safety and wearing our personal protective equipment. The oragnisers emphasised a lot on safety and all our life jacket have to be personally secured by them.

Our rafting guide is Sally. There were 7 people (plus the guide) altogether on the raft. We had to follow her instructions as we raft through the rapids. It was super cold when we touch the water and plus the wind which make me felt super freezing. Nonetheless, I enjoy the rafting. Our rafting ended with a 170m Oxenbridge tunnel and a steep rapid.

We were given time for changing and refreshment at the end of our rafting, before sending us back to Queenstown.
